Fourth-generation farmer, McGrath Family Farm
Phil McGrath is the fourth generation of his family to farm on the Oxnard Plain in Ventura County, on land that went from cattle in the 1860s to dairy, lima beans and sugar beets, and now row crops. The farm covers about 300 acres, most of it certified organic, with a direct-marketing side of farmers markets, a roadside stand and a CSA.
McGrath Family Farms sells heirloom vegetables, strawberries and melons at the South Pasadena and Hollywood farmers markets.
